I teach engineering in the Scientific Arts (SciArts) division at Heart of Los Angeles, a free after school STEAM program for students in grades 4 through 12. No experience is needed to join, only curiosity and a willingness to learn together.
SciArts is hands on and maker style: students work in groups on do it yourself projects that solve real design problems, building analytical thinking, resilience, teamwork and a first look at STEAM careers. Classes run in quarterly sessions through the year, alongside others in robotics, coding and game development, animation and graphic design.
