Portal coasters

Six series of coasters covering the Portal achievement icons, up to 16 to a set, 3D printed in two colors with the Portal logo on the base and sold through DreamStreamCo, my Etsy shop for gaming themed and personalized pieces made on my own 3D printer and laser cutter. They are fan art of Valve’s game.

To make them I wrote a small Python tool. It takes SVG artwork for the top and bottom of a coaster and writes a 3MF project that slices as a multi color print, either one coaster or a 2 by 2 plate with a different top on each, built from a template project. It traces the SVG shapes, extrudes them to the right depth, and checks printability, flagging details that are too thin to print at coaster size. A grid command makes a lettered listing image of a set, so a buyer can pick designs by letter.
