Most keyboards draw their keys and stop there. These three projects add a layer on top: key pops, floating letters, backspace fire, black holes, swipe trails, letter hop, a hold charge, a spacebar trackpad and show and hide animations.

keyfx is the engine. It is a single Android Drawable that sits over the keyboard window and draws every effect. The keyboard, called the host, only reports what happened, such as a key press or a swipe. It uses plain Android graphics, so it contains no code from FUTO Keyboard or any other keyboard, and it comes with a lab app for tuning effects.

FX for FUTO Keyboard is an LSPosed module that hooks the official FUTO Keyboard at runtime, so rooted phones keep FUTO’s own app and get the effects and a few typing extras on top.

FXboard is a fork of FUTO Keyboard that draws its real keys through keyfx, for phones without root. It keeps everything FUTO Keyboard does (offline, private, swipe typing, voice input) and puts every addition in two settings pages where each effect can be switched off or tuned.

All three are unofficial and not made, endorsed or supported by FUTO.
